Driver charged with making threats

A truck driver has been indicted on charges of making a threat to a federal employee following repeated phone calls in which he threatened an Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) inspector with bodily injury in retaliation for issuing him a fine.

Nebraska-based Ronald Mockelman was charged in U.S. District Court March 11, the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (OIG) announced this week.

An FMCSA inspector had issued Mockelman a fine for violating federal safety regulations, the OIG says.

Mockelman also allegedly made threatening phone calls to an agency office in Illinois, too, the DOT says.
