The man impersonating a police officer and robbing truckers and others along the I-30 corridor in Texas and Arkansas was arrested, according to the Sulphur Springs, Texas Police Department.
According to a post by Lt. Rusty Stillwagoner on the department’s Facebook page, they obtained warrants for impersonating a police officer and theft. U.S. Marshalls and the Little Rock Police Department Thursday, Sept. 3, arrested the suspect who they identified as James Charles Williams Jr. on those warrants in the Little Rock, Ark. area.
“It was a combined effort with all agencies involved, to get Williams identified and arrested,” said Stillwagoner.
Multiple drivers in the Rockwall and Texarkana, Texas areas reported incidents in which the suspect approached them claiming to be a police officer with the narcotics task force. He told them he was conducting a sting operation, and threatened to summon narcotics dogs and to arrest them if they did not comply. He demanded money from the drivers in lieu of arrest.
