Trucker Path, creators of a trip-planning app for truck drivers, released a new “chatbot” option for Facebook’s messenger app. The chatbot, called Trucker Path Bro, works by responding to a driver’s location-based text message to provide the latest updates on nearby parking availability, weigh station and other facilities.

TruckerPath says the new option helps truckers to optimize their trips and save time and money. Research from the user community of its Trucker Path Pro app, which includes more than 430,000 drivers or 30 percent of Class 8 drivers in the Unites States, shows drivers save 51 minutes per trip on average, translating to $600 in monthly savings.

The company says the idea for its Trucker Path Pro app came from the CB radio, which drivers have used for decades to share information on the road. The app provides information on truck parking availability at more than 27,000 locations along the National Highway System.

Trucker Path Pro uses crowdsourcing technology to capture accurate, real-time information on truck parking availability from its user community.
