Associated Food Stores driver is Montana’s Grand Champion

Norman Canney won the title of best of the best at the Montana Truck Driving Championships, June 17 at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds in Helena. Canney was named grand champion for having the highest point differential above the average within his class.

Canney, from Helena, drives for Associated Food Stores. He competed with 73 other truckers to win the title.

The winners, by category, were:

Grand Champion: Norman Canney, Associated Food Stores

Rookie of the Year: Lyle Turville, Decker Truck Line

Team Championship: FedEx Ground

Straight Truck: Don Lamere, FedEx Ground

3-Axle: Dave Schelin, FedEx Freight 

4-Axle: Ryan Harris, Reddaway

5-Axle: Duane Bushman, Watkins and Shepard Trucking

Flatbed: Bryce Neilson, FedEx Freight

Tanker: Mike Worl, FedEx Ground

Sleeper Berth: Norm Canney, Associated Food Stores

Twin Trailers: Chuck Fiske, FedEx Freight

Step Van: Jason Martinie, FedEx Express
