A Houston TV reporter helped save the life of a driver stranded in the flooded cab of his truck Sunday morning.
KHOU reporter Brandi Smith and her camera operator spotted a tractor/trailer stranded in flood waters created by Hurricane Harvey on the beltway north of the city. They saw its lights were on and windshield wipers were still operating. As they looked closer, they saw the diver in the cab.
Smith shouted to the driver, telling him to get on the roof of his truck.
It was then she noticed a Harris County Sheriff’s Office truck with a boat driving toward them. Smith ran after and managed to flag down the officers, who put in their boat and rescued the driver.
On dry land and after a rain-soaked interview, the driver hugged the reporter.
