UPS Freight driver has highest score in Utah championship

UPS Freight driver Russell Atkins was honored as the Utah Truck Driving Championship grand champion. Atkins won by having the highest overall score after also winning first place in the Tanker class.

Reddaway driver Tyler Morse was named Rookie of the Year.

The annual championship was organized by the Utah Trucking Association. It was held June 1-2 in Salt Lake City.

The winners were:

Grand Champion: Russell Atkins, UPS Freight

Rookie of the Year: Tyler Morse, Reddaway

Straight Truck: Judd Adams, XPO Logistics

3-Axle: Dan Reese, Reddaway

4-Axle: Mark Davidson, Airgas

5-Axle: Timothy Smith, YRC Freight

Sleeper Berth: Kenneth Grygla, Walmart Transportation

Flatbed: Eric Hein, Thatcher Transportation

Tanker: Russell Atkins, UPS Freight

Twin Trailers: Jeffrey Payne, Reddaway

Step Van: Lonnie Christensen, FedEx Ground
