In what may be the oddest coincidence of highway mishaps ever, two tractor-trailers plunged off two separate bridges on a stretch of  Interstate 40 within an hour of one another in eastern Arkansas recently.

Media reports say a FedEx truck pulling two trailers struck another tractor-trailer and then left I-40 and crashed into the Little Bivens Bayou near mile marker 256 Friday, Aug. 10 afternoon.

About 45 minutes later, police report another tractor-trailer crashed off another I-40 bridge several miles east of the first mishap. A story on a Memphis, Tennessee TV station said the driver of a CalArk truck suffered a stroke before leaving the highway.

Both drivers were airlifted to hospitals in Memphis.

Oddly enough, authorities also had to respond to a grass fire along the interstate at about the same time as the two truck accidents.
