Police from several jurisdictions staged an enforcement blitz aimed at commercial vehicles in Pennsylvania Tuesday, Feb. 4 and ticketed 27 drivers and arrested one.

The traffic enforcement detail took place on Route 222 in Ontelaunee Township, which is between Reading and Interstate 78. A report of the enforcement action shows 21 truckers were cited for speeding, four were cited for wearing headphones that provide sound in both ears and two for seat belt violations. In addition, police arrested a Massachusetts driver for driving under the influence and marijuana possession.

A state trooper in a road maintenance truck parked along the northbound shoulder used a radar gun to record speeds. The trooper then radioed a description of tractor-trailers that exceeded the posted 55 mph speed limit by at least 10 mph.
