Earlier this week New Hampshire State Police conducted roadside inspections on Interstate 89 placing several trucks and one driver out of service for safety and other violations.
Posting on Facebook about the weight enforcement effort Wednesday, Aug. 26, NHSP said 188 commercial vehicles were weighed and 20 selected for inspections. Troopers said they identified nine vehicles operating in violation of their maximum gross weight rating and identified six instances where vehicles exceeded their maximum axle weight rating.
A total of 71 violations were found during roadside inspections. As a result, Troopers say eight vehicles and one driver were placed out of service. Violations included:
- driving without a record of duty hours
- improperly secured loads
- inoperative brake lights
- inoperative turn signals
- operating without a required US DOT number
- operating with a flat tire
- inoperative emergency brakes
