One of the major truck stop chains recently took over a well-known family-operated travel center on Route 66 in New Mexico.
TravelCenters of America, which became part of the bp family of brands earlier this year, recently purchased Russell's Travel Center in Glenrio, New Mexico and transitioned it to a TA Travel Center.
Located on historic Route 66 (I-40, exit 369), the former Russell’s Travel Center offers a classic car and memorabilia museum, an authentic Route 66 diner, and an expansive store with convenience offerings. The site is located at 1583 Frontage Road 4132.
Amenities include:
- Russell’s Route 66 Diner
- Subway
- Store with hot and cold beverages, snacks and merchandise
- 10 diesel fueling positions
- 175 truck parking spaces
- Eight private showers
- Laundry facilities
- Pet area
The Glenrio travel center is the company’s ninth location to open in New Mexico, growing the total nationwide network of travel centers to 293. TA also plans to open another travel center in nearby Tucumcari, with construction to begin in early 2024.
Russell’s sold its other travel center near Springer to TA earlier this year.
