Company that limits driver cell phone use names trucking advisory board

NoCell Technologies, a supplier of solutions to mitigate the use of cell phones while behind the wheel of commercial vehicles, announced earlier this week the establishment of the NOCELL Driver Advisory Board. The company said the board is comprised of professional drivers who are committed to helping improve safety on our roadways by eliminating distracted driving.

The advisory board provides feedback to the NoCell Technologies team on current technologies and issues with adoption and helps determine the best way to share technology advancements with professional drivers.

The board is composed of five professional drivers and a trucking industry professional including:

  • Tom Ball the Dedicated Transportation Manager at Ruan Transportation in El Paso, Texas. He has been part of the trucking industry for more than 25 years. He worked for Sysco, where he was named Transportation Supervisor of the Year, Coca-Cola Enterprises, and Performance Food Service where he served as both Transportation Manager and Safety Manager.
  • Daniel Clark, an owner-operator who hauls local reefer for Classic Carriers in Columbus, Ohio. He has been a professional driver for more than 16 years and has more than 2.5 million miles under his belt. Clark won the 2023 Truckload Carriers Association Driver of the Year award. He has been a runner-up for the Ohio Trucking Association Driver of the Year award three times.
  • Anthony Eck, an independent contractor with Prime Trucking. He has been a professional driver for 25 years and has 2.5 million accident-free miles under his belt. Eck placed first in the Utah State Truck Driver Championship in 2023. He has been nominated twice for the TCA Driver of the Year award. He has been recognized by Prime with the 2 Million Safe Driving Miles Award and the Perfect on Time Performance Award. In addition, he placed first in the Utah State Trucking Championship in 2023 and second place in the Grand Champion category.
  • Thomas Miller, an independent contractor who hauls regional freight for Prime Trucking. He has been a professional driver for 30 years and has nearly 4 million accident-free miles to his credit. Miller serves as an America’s Road Team captain, on the Prime Driver Advisory Board and is an ambassador for the Independent Contractor’s Coalition. He was named TCA’s 2013 Independent Contractor of the Year and the 2016 Missouri Trucking Association Driver of the Year. He has also won the Missouri Trucking Association Truck Driver Championship three times and the Prime Truck Driver Championship six times.
  • Emily Plummer, an owner-operator who hauls over-the-road reefers for Prime Incorporated in Springfield, Missouri. She has been a professional driver for 24 years and has driven more than 3.25 million miles. In 2024, Plummer was named as an American Trucking Association’s Road Team Captain. She is also the recipient of the 2023 Truckload Carriers Association Driver of the Year award. In addition, she received the 2022 Prime Highway Diamond award given to accomplished female drivers at the company and received her One, Two, and Three Million Mile Awards from Prime.
  • Charles Smith, a lease operator who hauls over-the-road reefer for Prime Inc. He is based out of Springfield, Missouri. Smith has been a professional driver for seven years, trains new drivers, and has driven nearly 1 million miles. Smith serves on the Prime Driver Advisory Board and has been named Prime’s #1 Fleet Driver. He also successfully competed in the 2023 Utah State Truck Driver Championship.
