The latest in a long line of cargo thefts in Philadelphia occurred in the early morning hours Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Philadelphia police said six men stole boxes of frozen crab meat from a truck parked on 7th St. in South Philadelphia. The stolen seafood was valued at $42,000.

According to the police, the driver was asleep in his parked truck at the time of the robbery. However, movements in the back of the truck woke him and he saw six mean stealing the boxes. They fled in three vehicles, he told police.

This is just the latest in a string of late night cargo thefts in Philadelphia. There was another theft of frozen seafood in March in North Philadelphia, and one in April during which thieves made off with two pallets worth of pork.
