The New York State Thruway Authority earlier this week reopened the newly renovated Pattersonville Service Area located on Interstate 90 westbound between exit 26 (Schenectady - Scotia - I-890 - NY Routes 5 & 5S) and exit 27 (Amsterdam - NY Route 30).
The service area is the 21st location overall to open, and the second of four locations to undergo extensive renovations as part of the $450 million private investment to redevelop and modernize all 27 Thruway service areas.
The Pattersonville Service Area is one of four locations on the Thruway that has expanded amenities for commercial vehicle drivers.
As part of the project, all of the components inside the restaurant building were removed including the restaurants, restrooms and interior seating. The renovation includes a new floor plan, new restaurants, new restrooms, the addition of two new family assist restrooms, private nursing area, additional seating as well as customer access to electrical outlets and phone/laptop charging stations.
Commercial trucking amenities include:
- Separate entrance
- Lounge
- Showers
- Restrooms
- Washer and dryer
New restaurants include:
- Panera Bread (7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Mon-Sun)
- Chick-fil-A (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. – Mon-Sat)
- Starbucks (Drive-Thru) (5 a.m. – 8 p.m. Mon-Sun)
- Applegreen C-Store (Open 24 hours a day/7 days a week)
Other amenities include:
- Outdoor seating
- Dog walking area
- Adult changing station
- Private nursing area
- Digital tourism kiosk
- Four level 3 high speed EV chargers available at a later date
“The Pattersonville Service Area is now open to customers in newly renovated space and expanded amenities for commercial drivers, the first service area in the Capital Region to reopen with these services,” Thruway Authority Executive Director Frank G. Hoare, Esq. said. “The Thruway Authority is committed to modernizing the transportation system, improving the travel experience for motorists and maintaining one of the safest superhighways in the nation.”
All 27 service areas are being redeveloped as part of a $450 million public-private partnership with Empire State Thruway Partners. No toll or tax dollars are being used for construction.
