Briefly: Estes relocates Detroit terminal; almost doubles capacity

Estes employees at new location in Michigan

Estes has relocated its metro Detroit terminal hub to a nearby facility with nearly double the capacity. 

Located at 27411 Wick Road, in Romulus Estes’ new terminal has144 doors, 67,000 square feet of dock area, 7,200 square feet of office space, and a 12-bay shop with a fueling station. It also has 147 employees and is one of Estes' five Michigan terminals.

The facility sits on a 36-acre site near Interstate 94, close to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.

Coinciding with the terminal’s grand opening, Estes also donated a tractor and trailer to the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in nearby Ypsilanti. This much-needed equipment will help those enrolled in vocational programs gain hands-on experience in their field of study. 

Tolls on Blue Water Bridge increase Sunday 

Tolls on the eastbound span of the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan, will increase Sunday, Dec. 1. 

The Michigan Department of Transportation said the $1 toll-rate increase is the first increase for eastbound travel in 14 years,

Both commuter and commercial vehicles will pay the increased rate to help offset increased maintenance and operation costs as well as improvements to the Blue Water Bridge plaza, according to MDOT.

Another $1 increase is expected to go into effect Dec. 1, 2025.

The new toll rate schedule includes:

  • Cars – $4
  • Each extra axle – $4
  • Trucks and buses – $4.25 per axle
  • EDGE Pass commuters – 50-cent discount per crossing

2 PA truck stops fined for gaming violations

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board fined two travel centers for violations totaling $70,000.

Fined were::

  • The TA Operating LLC was fined $37,500 for its failure to have a board-credentialed employee present while the video gaming terminal room at its Harrisburg store located at 7848 Linglestown Road was open and used by patrons

  • Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Inc. was fined $32,500 for its failure to have a board-credentialed employee present while the video gaming terminal room at its Carlisle store located at 1165 Harrisburg Pike was opened and used by patrons.

Gaming Board regulations require VGT establishments have at least one board-credentialed employee on site supervising the VGT area when the games are available for play.
