As freight fraud, cyber-enabled cargo crime, and cyber threats continue to evolve, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. announced recently it has launched the Threat Report Portal. The free resource was created to help transportation and logistics organizations anonymously share threat intelligence and learn from incidents currently affecting the industry.
Designed for carriers, shippers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and brokers, the Threat Report Portal allows companies to share information about incidents and suspicious activity, learn from one another’s experiences, and promote information sharing.
“Threat actors are constantly adapting their tactics, and no single organization has visibility into every threat facing the industry,” said Joe Ohr, chief operations and technical officer at NMFTA. “When organizations share what they’re experiencing, the entire industry benefits. By combining real-time industry reporting with NMFTA’s threat analysis, the portal helps organizations stay informed, communicate emerging risks, and take proactive steps to protect their operations.”
NMFTA is encouraging those who have experienced cyber events (such as ransomware, phishing attacks, or network intrusions) or cargo crimes (such as cargo theft or fictitious pickups), to participate. Participation is free.
The value of the portal grows with every report submitted, helping build a clearer picture of the threats facing the transportation industry.
The Threat Report Portal is part of NMFTA’s ongoing commitment to advancing cybersecurity awareness, threat intelligence sharing, and freight security, and complements the Freight Fraud Prevention Hub’s focus on fraud and cargo theft prevention.
Many of the insights, threat patterns, and lessons learned from the portal will be shared at NMFTA’s Cybersecurity Conference this Fall in Long Beach, CA—held just minutes from the Port of Long Beach.
