Illinois inspection effort leads to 38 drivers and 61 vehicle out of service

A recent state police inspection detail led to numerous drivers and trucks being placed out of service for a variety of violations.

The Illinois State Police's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau conducted it’s Southern Illinois Hazardous Materials Detail from June 30 to July 1.

Staged on on Interstate 55, Interstate 70, and surrounding areas, troopers enforced Illinois laws and Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations relating to the safe transportation of hazardous materials. 

During the event, troopers conducted 488 total Inspections, including 195 involving hazardous materials. Troopers found 584 federal regulation violations and 85 Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

Troopers placed 38 drivers and 61 vehicle out of service.
