Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division recently released its activities for a 30-day period.

According to a social media post, from July 15 to Aug. 15, ISP CVED accomplished:

Total CMV Inspections Completed – 4,770
Total Out of Service Drivers – 608
Total Out of Service Vehicles – 655
Total Number of Oversize Violations – 452
Total Number of Overweight Violations – 234
Total Number of Violations – 9,455
Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device – 242

ATA praises Diesel Emissions Reduction Act

The American Trucking Associations recently commended the House Energy and Commerce Committee for unanimously passing the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) of 2025.

The bill was introduced by U.S. Representatives Doris Matsui (D-CA), Ken Calvert (R-CA), Chellie Pingree (D-ME), and Nick Langworthy (R-NY) and would reauthorize the DERA program through fiscal year 2029 at $100 million annually. It will now be considered by the full House of Representatives.

“For decades, the trucking industry has worked alongside policymakers to advance cleaner technologies and reduce emissions. As a result of that partnership, truck emissions of NOx and particulate matter have fallen by 99% since 1970. DERA has been instrumental in that progress, helping motor carriers invest in the newest, cleanest equipment and accelerate the deployment of proven innovations,” said ATA Chief Advocacy & Public Affairs Officer Henry Hanscom.

DERA provides federal grants and rebates to help finance the voluntary replacement or retrofits of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and engines. By helping to upgrade tens of thousands of vehicles over nearly two decades, DERA is responsible for saving more than half a billion gallons of fuel.

Oregon adds PrePass Bypass Mobile App

PrePass Safety Alliance, the nonprofit public-private partnership advancing commercial vehicle safety and efficiency, today announced the statewide site expansion of the PrePass Bypass Mobile App in Oregon. Deployment by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will allow qualified carriers to bypass participating weigh stations at highway speed and receive in-cab safety alerts, helping drivers avoid unnecessary stops, save time, and lower operating costs.

Bypass capabilities are at 19 sites and, according to ODOT, will dramatically modernize the state’s freight operations. Two additional sites are expected to become operational by year’s end.
