Truck drivers who have to spend Thanksgiving away from home may still receive a hot holiday meal courtesy of Meals for 18 Wheels volunteers.
Each year, the group coordinates a team of volunteers to deliver Thanksgiving meals to truck drivers in need. On Thanksgiving morning, the group will create a post on their Facebook page about the meal-sharing event. On that post, drivers who wish to receive a meal will comment on their location and how long they expect to be at there. Meals for 18 Wheels will compare the information drivers provide to their volunteer information and coordinate available volunteers in that area who can drop off a plate of food. The volunteer and driver will be put in contact with one another so the volunteer can deliver the food.
