Fiat-Chrysler says it will recall nearly 1,700 model year 2015 Ram 1500 4Ă—2 EcoDiesel pickups in the U.S. over concerns that an electrical short may cause stalling and pose a fire risk
“The affected vehicles have a battery harness that may rub against the frame bracket for the right engine mount, resulting in an electrical short,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration summary says. “If the harness shorts, the vehicle may stall and there is an increased risk of fire.”
Ram also notified dealers the issue may also cause “miscellaneous fuses to blow, the malfunction indicator lamp to illuminate, a “No Start” condition, an engine stall followed by a “No Start” condition and/or the battery to go dead when the vehicle is parked overnight.”
The company also said it will recall about 1.73 million trucks for defects, including one wiring harness defect the company says could inadvertently set off an airbag.
