Cascadia recall aimed at possible airbag issue

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling more than 3,000 Freightliner Cascadia trucks because of a potential issue with an optional steering wheel airbag, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall affects about 3,365 model year 2018-2020 Cascadia trucks equipped with the optional airbag. In these trucks, the airbag could deploy unexpectedly.

DTNA says it will notify owners, and dealers will remove the airbag as an interim remedy, for free, while the company develops a remedy.

Owners of affected trucks can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 with recall number FL806. NHTSA’s recall number is 19V-066. NHTSA adds that this recall supersedes a recall issued in November over faulty air bags.
