The Bandit is back!

The “new” old 1977 Trans-Am Bandit Edition

When is a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro not a 2015 Camaro?

When it’s been customized to be one of the coolest movie cars in history: the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am that stole scenes – and hearts of gear heads — in “Smokey and the Bandit.”

Tallahassee, Florida-based Trans Am Depot takes 2015 Camaros and reshapes them into what it calls the Trans Am SE Bandit Edition. It’s producing a limited edition run of just 77 cars.

Trans Am Depot owners brothers Scott and Tod Womack have even enlisted the aid of the Bandit himself in the project. Each car is signed by Burt Reynolds, and he’s featured in a promotional video.

The Bandit features the “T” top like the original but the Womack boys changed things up under the hood. The “new” Bandit packs a Smokey-smokin’ 840 hp V8.
