Video shows Tesla's progress toward producing delayed Class 8 Semi

Earlier this week, Tesla released this video announcing that the first units of its electric Class 8 Semi trucks will begin production at the company's Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada, by the end of this year.

The factory will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 units, according to the company.

Tesla reportedly is hiring 1,000 workers to work at the factory.

Production of the Semi was originally set to begin in 2019.

The announcement comes as Tesla's Cybertruck pickup has faced slumping sales and a large scale recall. At the same time Tesla car sales and company revenues have dropped dramatically in response to Tesla's Elon Musk's role in President Donald Trump's government cuts.
