Accidents: trucker dies when his truck hits SUV, ambulance

A New York trucker died Tuesday, Nov. 12 when his tractor-trailer struck two vehicles stopped on the side of an Ohio interstate.

A truck driven by Ramiz Guliev, 30, of Flushing, New York, drove off the right side of westbound Interstate 70 near state Route 4 near Springfield, Ohio at around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday striking a disabled SUV and an ambulance, according to the Springfield News-Sun.

Also injured were the driver of the SUV driver and two paramedics who were treating the driver in the back of the ambulance at the time of the crash, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol. The driver of the SUV reported they had been involved in an accident and was injured, prompting the EMTs to respond.

Guliev was ejected from the truck, and he was pinned beneath his tractor-trailer, according to police, who said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The collision occurred about 25 miles northeast of Dayton.

Tanker topples, spills molasses alongside I-86

Police in Idaho continue investigating a tractor-trailer rollover on Interstate 86 about 25 southwest of Pocatello, which spilled the tanker’s cargo of molasses along the roadside Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The Power County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck occurred at about 5:20 a.m. near American Falls.

The unidentified driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff warned drivers to be on the lookout for wildlife that may be attracted to the crash site by the sweet smell of the molasses.
