The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) asked for comments on its proposed regulation prohibiting coercion of drivers, and not surprisingly they got many.
FMCSA got an earful about its controversial hours of service rules. They also heard from industry about the need for accountability of shippers and receivers who push drivers to violate federal safety laws. The very definition of “coercion” was also raised. And, some people complained that the burden of proof of coercion will be placed on the driver making the claim.
The proposed rule drew plenty of comment when it was announced.
