That begin said, this 2009 movie starring Richard Gere as a college professor who adopts a puppy, is a delight, especially if you have any affection for dogs. Based on a true story, Hachi tells a wonderful story of just how faithful one dog — an Akita — can be. Joan Allen stars at Gere’s wife. Just FYI, the Akita in the movie is portrayed by three different dogs. See it on Amazon Prime.
