In honor of its 20th anniversary, Fox released a 20th anniversary edition of “Independence Day” on Blu-ray recently.

The anniversary edition includes the original theatrical cut and an extended special edition, which is nine minutes longer than the original. The set also comes with a digital HD copy. Extra features include a 30 minute documentary-style making of segment called “Independence Day: A Legacy Surging Forward.”

In “Independence Day,” aliens attack Earth in a full-on invasion. They target Earth’s biggest cities and David Levinson (Jeff Goldbum), a satellite expert, picks up a signal foretelling the aliens’ attack. Levinson shares this information with Captain Steven Hiller, played by Will Smith, who takes it to the president, played by Bill Pullman.

When the aliens start to attack, the three men flee and head off on a journey to combat the extraterrestrial threat they face.

The movie is available from Amazon here. It’s long-awaited sequel, “Independence Day: Resurgence,” will go to theaters June 24.
