Lisa KellyLisa Kelly"Ice Road Truckers", absent from TV screens since 2017, returns Oct. 1. The Season 12 premiere will air at 9:30 p.m. Eastern and 8:30 p.m. Central.

Lisa Kelly and Todd Dewey are the only two drivers returning to the History Channel program from its 11th season. Kelly and Dewey will join a group of rookies driving across the frozen roads and lakes of Alaska and northern Canada.

Kelly appeared in Seasons three through five, and returned for Season seven in 2013. Dewey joined the show during Season seven. He and Kelly stayed with the show through the time it was paused after Season 11.

Todd DeweyTodd DeweyOddly, the show was never officially canceled. It was just placed on indefinite hiatus.

“From its original series premiere in 2007 to a several years long hiatus, the fearless truckers return like never before to the treacherous terrain of icy roads and frozen lakes in Northern Canada delivering crucial supplies and necessities to isolated communities,” said a statement from the History Channel. “With a winter window shorter than ever and no time to waste, these drivers risk everything to haul in a lifeline of goods while chasing big paydays before the opportunity melts away under their chained tires.”

One of the most popular drivers on the show was Darrell Ward, who joined the show in the sixth season. He died in a light plane crash in August of 2016 in Montana. His son, Reno, appeared on the show as well.

The series was created and narrated by Thom Beers, who was the executive producer of another History Channel hit show, "Deadliest Catch".
