The Big Truck Cooking Facebook page, an online resource for drivers to share recipes and connect over food, has surpassed 5,000 members.
Darlene Ventura, the main administrator for the page, took over about 2 1/2 years ago when it had just 145 members. Since then, the page has grown into a community for drivers to come together to discuss cooking while over the road.
“We teach them how to cook themselves and we answer their questions. We have our own website with recipes, so every time they post recipes we put them on our website,” Ventura said.
Ventura rides along with her husband, who hauls dry van, and that was how she first became interested in ways to cook on the truck and truck-friendly recipes. She posts cooking videos on the Big Truck Cooking site of her taking drivers through the steps of how to make certain recipes.
“We’ve dedicated the page to helping drivers live better out on the road and to have a better resource for food and eating instead of eating fast food and at the truck stop,” Ventura said.
