ATRI, Mayo Clinic partner for medical exam process survey

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) and Mayo Clinic want to know what truckers think of the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners and its impact on the driver medical exam process.

The two organizations have released surveys to collect motor carrier and truck driver input on the topic. The goal of the surveys is to measure the effectiveness of the NRCME in improving the DOT physical exam process and to make sure the medical examiners are clear on FMCSA regulations and guidance.

“Driver health and wellness continues to be a top industry issue and area of research for ATRI,” said ATRI President Rebecca Brewster. “The joint research with Mayo Clinic will shed light on how the medical exam process is working since the advent of the national registry.

Motor carriers and commercial drivers may add their input by taking the confidential surveys online.
