Hand ArthritisHaving arthritis in your hands can make it difficult to complete daily tasks, and can make driving a daily pain. Fortunately, there are some hand exercises that can help relieve the tension of arthritis and increase the range of motion in your hands.

1. Fist

When your hands feel stiff, try making a fist with your thumb on the outside. Release your fist and stretch your fingers out, then repeat as needed.

2. Thumb Bend

Stretch your hand out straight, and bend your thumb into your palm as far as you comfortably can. Hold for a few seconds, then return your thumb to a straight, outstretched position. Repeat as needed.

3. Wrist Bends

Hold your arm out straight and bend your hand at the wrist in an up and down motion. Repeat as needed.

4. Fingertip Touch

Hold you hand open and touch your thumb to each of your fingers one at a time. Repeat as needed.

5. Finger Lifts

Place your hand on a flat surface. Lift each individual finger up one at a time, stretching it as far upward as you comfortably can. Repeat as needed.

Most of these exercises are easily performed in your truck. If pain persists, be sure to seek the advice of your health care professional.
