The Federal Highway Administration is expected to release results of a new truck parking survey on Friday, Aug. 21, and announce the creation of a coalition to address parking shortages.
The survey was part of Jason’s Law under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21).
The law was named in recognition of truck driver Jason Rivenburg, who was fatally shot in 2009 while parked at an abandoned gas station in South Carolina.
The survey of 400 drivers was to determine which areas in the country are most in need of safe truck parking.
