Schneider held its sixth annual Intermodal Safety Rodeo at the company’s headquarters in Green Bay, Wis. recently.
This year’s winner was Matt McMillan, who has won twice in past rodeos and took second place last year. McMillan has more than 20 years experience as a driver.
He’s 41 years old and is from Brookfield, Mass.
Intermodal drivers often execute short-haul deliveries, or drayage, in congested urban areas. This work, which the Intermodal Rodeo is designed to test, requires keen skills behind the wheel as well as a commitment to safety.
The three-maneuver course, which took about 15 minutes to complete, tested drivers’ abilities in blind-side backing and tight parking situations.
