Fully 25 percent of trucks that went through an inspection blitz in Prince George’s County, Maryland earlier this week were placed out of service.
A commercial vehicle enforcement initiative Tuesday, May 10, inspected more than 400 vehicles. Commercial vehicles on I-495/95 were directed into the parking lot at FedEx Field in Landover where county and state truck inspectors conducted equipment inspections, as well as weight checks.
According to a statement from the Maryland State Police, 438 commercial vehicle inspections were conducted, and the results included:
- 27 vehicles were placed out of service for tire violations
- 86 were placed out of service for a variety of other violations
- 1 was found to be 24,000 pounds overweight
- 115 traffic citations were written
- 251 warnings were issued
Similar enforcement operations will be conducted in the coming months, according to the police.
