Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Schneider announced June 2 the company’s acquisition of trucking companies Watkins & Shepard and Lodeso.

These acquisitions give Schneider more muscle in the home, commercial and retail delivery side of trucking. According to a Schneider news release, the company is now the nation’s leading first-to-final-mile-delivery provider of LTL, truckload and logistics for high-value furnishing and over-dimensional goods.

Watkins & Shepard, based in Missoula, Montana, offers LTL, truckload and logistics services for complicated goods such as furniture and floor coverings. The company has more than 1,300 employees, including nearly 800 drivers based out of 20 terminals across the U.S.

Lodeso offers final-mile logistics solution. It specializes in overweight, oversized and difficult-to-handle goods. Ledeso, based in Zeeland, Mich., employs approximately 50 people and has nearly 600 agents.
