Free educational seminars offered at GATS

The trucking industry has seen a lot of changes over the past year, and the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) wants to help keep you in the loop. The truck show will offer educational seminars on a wide range of topics during the three-day event in Dallas, Aug. 25-27.

Seminar topics will cover the electronic logging device update, preparing for a safety review, industry regulation updates and more. All of the GATS educational seminars are produced in partnership with the Texas Trucking Association.

The educational seminars coming to GATS 2016:

ELD Regulatory Update for Owner/Operators

What: This session will focus on implementing ELDs and the regulatory components of the new requirement.  Learn how to avoid the “mess” of implementation.

When: Thursday, Aug. 25 from 2-3 p.m. in Room D161; Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D162; and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D162

How to Prepare for a Safety Review

What: Get hands-on specifics about how to prepare for a safety review by the U.S. Department of Transportation or state officials. 

When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D161 and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D161

Industry/Regulatory Update

What: Learn where the trucking industry stands on recent regulatory changes and proposals like ELDs, Safety Fitness Determination and the re-Start rule.

When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D164

Technology and Risk Management

What: Learn how to introduce technology to help with risk management and compliance.

When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to noon and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room D161

Texas CDL/Medical Certificate Update

What: Get an update on Texas’ implementation of combining the CDL with a drivers Medical Certificate. Learn about the process, how to be compliant and the consequences of not providing your Medical Certificate to the Driver License Division.

When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room D162

Hot Legal Topics: From Firearms to Social Media

What: Legal experts will present issues that you and your company may be dealing with presently or in the future.

The educational seminars are free to attend with a GATS registration. Registration for GATS can be done online for free. GATS will take place in Dallas on Aug. 25-27 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center downtown.

GATS is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26; from 7 a.m.- to 4 p.m.  Saturday, Aug. 27. Free truck parking will be offered at the Cotton Bowl’s Fair Park in Dalas.
