A pair of high-profile company drivers have some concerns about the well-being of truckers and highway safety.
David Green, a driver for Werner, and Danny Smith, the first driver hired by Big G Express and who still drives for the company, are members of the American Trucking Associations‘ America’s Road Team Captains. They expressed their top concerns at Commercial Carrier Journal’s Fall Symposium in Scottsdale, Arizona earlier this week.
The Road Team is ATA’s national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who seek to spread the word about safety on the highway.
Green’s top concerns include parking, distracted drivers and the differential speed limit, and the looming speed limiter mandate.
Like Green, Smith is concerned about parking. He also mentioned detention time is distressing for him.
The two also said the trucking industry needs to do a better job of promoting its best drivers and improving the image of trucking.
