New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo late this morning issued a tractor-trailer ban for interstates 81, 84, 86, 88 and the Thruway as the result of the massive winter storm hammering the Northeast.

In addition, a full travel ban is in effect in Broome County; the county where I-81, I-86, I-88 and Route 17 intersect and where the City of Binghamton is located.

In a news conference this morning, Cuomo said the storm has been less severe than anticipated in the New York metropolitan area. The storm, named “Stella” by the Weather Channel, is, however, delivering more snow through the Hudson Valley and into the Albany area and into Central New York and the Southern Tier.
