Driver of 24 years is Virginia’s trucking grand champion

FedEx Express driver Mark Brundage, from Leesburg, had the highest score of all 94 competitors at the Virginia Truck Driving Championships June 16-17 at Wytheville Community College, making him the state’s grand champion.

Brundage has been a trucker for 24 years and has driven 1.5 million safe miles. He has spent 16 out of his 24 years in the industry driving for FedEx Express.

Captain Roy Terry Memorial Pre-Trip Inspection Award: Kenneth Cook, Walmart Transportation

Rookie of the Year Award: Tony Myrtle, FedEx Freight

Team Trophy: ABF Freight System

Step Van: Christopher Brown, FedEx Express

Straight Truck: Dan Wilson, Frito-Lay

3-Axle: Thomas Tascone, Walmart Transportation

4-Axle: Mark Brundage, FedEx Express

5-Axle Van: Kenneth Cook, Walmart Transportation

Flatbed: Joe Clements, UPS Freight

Tank: Anthony Cottrell, XPO Logistics

Sleeper Berth: Mike Barnes, Walmart Transportation

Twin Trailers: Chuck Bird, FedEx Freight
