Pilot Flying J is adding new stores and services while upgrading numerous existing travel stops.

During a conference call with members of the media earlier this week, officials said the company is investing $485 million in the next five years to upgrade Pilot and Flying J stores. Improvements include work on:

  • restrooms and showers
  • seating
  • food and beverage stations
  • fuel islands

Pilot Flying J is also investing in its program of roadside assistance trucks. It began deploying specially-equipped Ford-350, four-wheel drive trucks earlier this year and has 80 on the road to date. Officials expect to have a total of 150 on the road by the end of the year.

But, truck service is not limited to the roadside. Pilot Flying J opened its first service center in Warrenton, Missouri earlier this month. Construction is under way on 20 more three-bay centers to provide tire services, oil changes and repairs.
