Ford has worked with a developer in Brazil to create a hat for truckers, called SafeCap, designed to sense head movements that indicate sleepiness. When the hat picks up on those movements it wakes the driver using sound, light and vibration.
The hat was developed using research on different head movements and and can distinguish what is typical, like checking a mirror, versus specific movements that indicate sleepiness, reports Fast Company.
This hat is currently in the developmental stages in Brazil and is not yet being manufactured or sold in the U.S. Ford has not released details on when, if ever, the hat will be mass-produced in the U.S.
