A family-owned trucking company’s facility in North Dakota was destroyed in an early-morning fire late last week.

The headquarters of Korsmo Brothers Trucking, located in Northwood, North Dakota, burned Friday, Jan. 12 when temperatures dipped to at least – 20 degrees. Because of the frigid temperatures, some of the company’s equipment was inside and lost in the blaze.

Company owner Dave Korsmo estimated the damage to be between $1 million and $2 million, according to Valley News Live.

Ironically, the new chief of the Northwood Fire Department, which responded to the blaze, was Jason Korsmo, son of the owner.

The Grand Forks Herald reports, “A truck driver sleeping in his rig inside the shop woke up to an explosion and ran outside and called for help.”

The company, which runs tankers, reefers and hoppers, reportedly has set up a makeshift office nearby.
