As of 3:30 p.m. Central, parts of Interstate 70 in Missouri were closed by weather-related accidents.
The first occurred at about noon today at mile marker 58 on I-70 near Concordia, Missouri, some 57 miles east of Kanas City.
On westbound I-70 at mile marker 29 near Oak Grove there was a pileup involving 15 vehicles. The Missouri Highway Patrol said at least one person has died in that mishap.
The pileups were caused by snow and ice that were part of the same winter storm that had lambasted California and the Pacific Northwest earlier this week, according to The Weather Channel.
