(Image Courtesy of California Trucking Association)The California Trucking Association named Walmart Transportation driver Steve Hutton the grand champion of its annual California Truck Driving Championship, held May 19 in West Sacramento. Drivers came out to test their skills in the annual competition despite rainy weather.
Hutton and the other class winners will represent California at the National Truck Driving Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Aug. 14-17.
The winners were:
Grand Champion: Steve Hutton, Walmart Transportation
3-Axle: Carlos Montoya, Reddaway
4-Axle: Jose Villela, Old Dominion Freight Line
5-Axle: Gary Laugen, Safeway
Flatbed: Steve Hutton, Walmart Transportation
Step Van: Cha Xiong, FedEx
Sleeper Berth: Kurt Tanneberg, Walmart Transportation
Straight Truck: Marcos Reyes, FedEx Freight
Tanker: Richard Prescott, Walmart Transportation
Twins: Robert Campos, Reddaway
