Werner Enterprises honored five drivers for achieving safety milestones during a Sept. 13 ceremony at the fleet’s Omaha, Nebraska headquarters. Between them, the five drivers have achieved 14 million accident-free miles.

Driver Michael Chiocchio, from Rio Rancho, New Mexico joined Werner in 2001 and has accumulated 2 million accident-free miles. Chiocchio, an Army veteran, reads history books and serves pancakes to veterans at his local VFW when he’s not driving.

James Sutherland joined Werner 24 years ago and has 2 million accident-free miles under his belt. Sutherland, from Niagara Falls, New York, is part of Werner’s Canada Network. He spends his free time traveling.

Driver Michael Bingen, of Omaha, Nebraska, has driven for Werner for 26 years and has reached 3 million accident-free miles. He is a part of Werner’s Van Network and has a passion for trains and railroads.

Werner Enterprises driver Samuel Bodrie, from Pinconning, Michigan, has spent 29 years with the fleet and has achieved 3 million accident-free miles. He drives on a dedicated account and enjoys relaxing when he’s not trucking.

Timothy Heater, a Werner driver for 33 years, has reached the rare safety milestone of 4 million accident-free miles. Heater, from St. Joseph, Missouri, is part of Werner’s Van Network. He has trained 125 student drivers. When not driving, Heater can be found spending time with his grandchildren.

Werner recognized the drivers as part of its National Truck Driver Week celebrations.

“Werner looks forward to National Truck Driver Appreciation Week every year as a time to join the nation in celebrating our professional drivers and recognizing them for safely keeping America moving all year,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Derek Leathers.
