Driver arrested for shooting pellet gun at motorists

A 31-year-old truck driver from Maryland was arrested in Oklahoma Tuesday, Oct. 22, for allegedly firing a pellet pistol at passing vehicles.

Lezli Hines was arrested by officers of the Oologah Police Department on southbound Highway 169 in Oologah, Oklahoma about 35 miles north of Tulsa. Police received calls that a trucker was shooting at cars through the open window of his truck.

When stopped, Hines told police there was a pellet pistol in his truck’s sleeper berth. Searching the truck, police also found two open containers of alcohol.

Hines was arrested for two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and one count of transporting an open container, according to the Claremore Daily Progress.

Police spoke with witnesses including one whose car’s back window appeared to have been shot.
