A convoy of 40 trucks — including a flatbed carrying the casket of a fellow trucker and farmer — provided a fitting tribute to the Illinois father of five who died at age of 47 earlier this month.

The family of Dennis Shaffer had asked other truckers to accompany his body from the funeral home in Lacon, Illinois to the cemetery in Camp Grove.

Shaffer is said to have started out driving for his father and then formed his own company. He hauled grain and construction materials. He died following a long illness.
