The Knox County Sheriff’s Office told WBIR-TV the rig was taken from a Pilot truck stop on Governor John Sevier Highway at 9:56 a.m. Tuesday. Their pursuit of the stolen tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 began after an unsuccessful attempt to stop it on Strawberry Plains Pike.

Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers were able to deploy spike strips that led to the rig ending up in a ditch on eastbound I-40.

Police arrested Amy Butler-Cordray and say she had also stolen a vehicle and a pit bull puppy in Memphis, Tennessee earlier. Both were recovered and Butler-Cordray was charged with theft of property, evading arrest, and driving without a license.
