The Michigan Department of Transportation plans on closing part of Interstate 75 in Detroit this weekend.
Repair work on the John R Street bridge requires closing southbound I-75 from Interstate 375 to M-10 (Lodge Freeway) from 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15. There will be no southbound I-75 access to Grand River Avenue during this time, according to MDOT.
The freeway-to-freeway detour is southbound I-75 to westbound I-94, then eastbound I-96 to southbound I-75.
Additional alternate routes for southbound I-75 drivers heading to downtown Detroit include:
- Southbound I-75 to Madison Street.
- Southbound I-75 to southbound I-375, then Lafayette Street/Monroe Street.
- Southbound I-75 to westbound Mack Avenue, then southbound M-1 (Woodward Avenue).
- Southbound I-75 to westbound M-8 (Davison Freeway), then southbound M-10 to Grand River Avenue.
