A charity that aids truckers' families in need is now accepting applications for this year's round of aid.
The Truckers Christmas Group announced it will accept nominations through Dec. 17.
Now in its 15th year, the group has raised some $150,000 and aided 244 trucker families in the U.S. and Canada who are experiencing financial difficulties.
The group is also raising funds for this year's aid to families. Part of these efforts is an online store where the group sells products donated by businesses.

Bay and Bay sells off its tanker division
McCoy Group, the parent company of tank transporter Foodliner and liquid and dry bulk carrier Quest Liner is acquiring the Burnsville, Minnesota-based tank trucking segment of Bay and Bay Transportation.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Foodliner, based in Dubuque, Iowa, will continue operating out of Burnsville, while Bay and Bay’s dedicated trucking teams will move to the company’s Eagan, Minnesota, facility.
Bay and Bay CEO Sam Anderson noted that the divestiture of its tank business allows Bay and Bay to further focus and invest in its refrigerated trucking and multi-modal logistics businesses, which make up 97% of the company’s annual revenue and have grown more than 30% annually the past three years. The company is among the largest refrigerated logistics providers in the U.S.
The McCoy Group, a family-owned and privately held freight company established in 1958, is the largest food-grade bulk carrier in the U.S.
Dot Transportation drivers receive COVID bonus
Dot Foods, Inc. and its affiliate trucking company, Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI), recently gave a pandemic recovery bonus of 3 percent to all full-time employees This is an additional, one-time bonus based on employees’ earnings and is in addition to the existing quarterly bonus program, according to a statement from the company.
“The last two years have been extremely difficult on everyone, including our employees,” Dick Tracy, president of Dot Foods. “Like so many other businesses, ours suffered when the pandemic hit. And while demand for Dot’s services has rebounded, returning to post-pandemic levels, the country has also been navigating the labor shortage and cost of living has grown faster than most anticipated.
“We are still in the recovery, and our employees continue to go above and beyond to keep America fed. Considering it all, we wanted to do something special to thank them, so we decided to add this recovery bonus on top of our regular quarterly bonus program this year.”
The bonus is based on each employee’s total earnings from Jan. 1 to Dec. 4, 2022, and will be paid in mid-December 2022, ahead of the holiday season.`
