Trucker busted for having $2 million in pot among frozen waffles

Customs and Border Patrol officers at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, New York ONly July 27 seized $2 million worth of drugs stashed in a tractor-trailer loaded with frozen waffles.

The Canadian truck driver, Ajaypal Dhillon, had 949 kilograms of marijuana and 51 kilograms of the ketamine hidden in boxes in his trailer when it was searched by Customs and Border Patrol officers, according to an affidavit by Homeland Security Investigations.

The truck driver was charged with possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute it and knowingly importing marijuana into the U.S.

The Buffalo News reports Dhillon’s manifest indicated he had a shipment of frozen waffles for a grocery store in Georgia. However, the company allegedly shipping the waffles told authorities it was a fraudulent document.

U.S. Magistrate Michael J. Roemer ordered Dhillon be held in custody until a detention hearing in federal court in Buffalo.
